I want to be free.

I want to be my own boss.

I want to create, move and earn on my own terms.

I don’t want to be a slave.

I want to quit.

These are some of the thoughts that ran rapid in my mind working my last 9–5. Unlike some others however, I never had a chance to drop my resignation and say ‘I Quit’, and walk out the office door never to return again — I dreamt and long desired to do that.

The pandemic had other plans and it will be that which will set me free from the shackles of a 9–5.

While some may be crippled by such an event, I saw it as the opportunity in adversity, and desired to take this opportunity by the horns to be my own boss.

It sounds so cool now, but little did I know I was in for a ride.

I have made a lot mistakes along the way, some truly damaging ones, and there a lot of things I wish I knew before choosing to go down this rabbit hole of an entrepreneurial life which I love intensely and am very much suited to, and I hope these lessons will help equip the next person looking to make that leap, or looking to turn adversity into opportunity.
